Three Peaks for Neil - Training

The team have been busy training for the Three Peaks Challenge which is rapdily approaching! As well as individual training, several members met up on Sunday 16th August for a walk in the Brecon Beacons. This was to be an opportunity for some to see a mountain for the first time. It was sure to be an eye opener!

With an early departure from Gloucester, the 9 strong team drove to the Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales. Starting at Neuadd Reservoir which is about 5 miles north of Merthyr Tydfil, the team set off to complete a 9 mile route.

The route took in some spectacular views and took everyone to the top of 4 Peaks; Corn Du, Pen y Fan, Cribyn, and Fan y Big. A long walk but some very good training in anticpation for the Three Peaks for Neil which commences on 29th August 2015. The highest of these mountains is Pen y Fan at 886m which will be tiny in comparison to Ben Nevis which is the first mountain to be climbed which stands at 1344m!

One of the reasons the team is completing the Three Peaks Challenge is that Neil also completed it on a stepper whilst on Chemo and he therefore couldnt experience the views. The picture below is the view for Neil from Snowdon (not quite the peak as that was in cloud!). These were taken whilst Adam completed training for his Three Peaks and Ten Peaks. It was also an opportunity to try out the Three Peaks t-shirts...this is your sneak preview!
