Adam and Mark - Forest Warrior
Forest Warrior was held in Gloucester on Saturday 11th July and was a 10 km cross country race consisting of a number of different obstacles.
This was a last minute entry for Mark and I, spurred on by seeing many others fundraising for The Neil Vines Trust; it was time for our first challenge in aid of our younger brother's charity. It also provided us with the perfect opportunity to show off our brand new charity t-shirts. Maybe yellow was not the best choice of colour considering the anticipated mud and dirt that the race promised. As well as the mud, there were large walls to climb, monkey bars (Neil was always exceptional at these and would definitely have shown us up), tunnels to crawl through and swamp-like lakes to wade through...and lets not forget those hills!
So the important question you have all been waiting to be answered; who won? Well after bruises, sweat, scratches and cuts (there were only tears from Mark) Mark came 6th overall with me (Adam) coming 2nd. We were both presented with a medal before a quick photo opportunity...and then a well deserved wash!
Our motivation for competing in this event was to spread the word and raise awareness of The Neil Vines Trust. The t-shirts and vests are just the beginning...we aim to design more charity merchandise in the very near future...look out for The Neil Vines Trust wristbands which are on their way! We are both sincerely grateful for your donations, especially as this was a last minute decision to enter. Watch this space...more events to follow shortly.
We are doing this because of you Neil. You started by helping others and providing everyone with positivity. Now we will carry on what you started.
There will be more pictures to come but here is a little taster of the event.
